The Future’s Black And Yellow

Standard

One summer in the late Eighties (possibly 1987, after I had finished taking my O levels) my dad decided his old car needed a bit of a makeover. At the time, he had a penchant for black and yellow, so decided they were the colours we would use to transform his primrose yellow Citroën Dyane into The Wasp!

It seems only fitting that, three decades later, I am presenting the My 80s show on Mad Wasp radio.

Tuesday saw the launch party for the station 21752020_10213173620394210_5533982512474490863_nat the Vinyl Bar, where my fellow presenters and I celebrated ‘the station with the sting in its tail’ coming to our airwaves. Here I am with Eighties’ TV and radio veteran Steve Blacknell, Jonny Steingold, who presents Americana show Dixieflyer, and Dee Webb, the ‘brains behind Mad Wasp Radio’, Dee Time presenter and Matron in the Mad Hatties Show.

For more info on the station’s shows and presenters, visit Mad Wasp Radio, where you can also listen to us.

It has been a busy time since the station launched just under a week ago, with a few tweaks and fine tuning being made. One of the changes that has been made during that time is that the My 80s show will now be repeated on Sunday evenings, meaning you can listen to the show on Mad Wasp Radio as listed below. All My 80s show are also available on Mixcloud.

Closest Thing To A Heavenly Favourite Five

Standard

I have never made any secret of the fact that my all time favourite song of the entire Eighties is The Kane Gang’s “Closest Thing To Heaven”. So, you can imagine how delighted I was when former band member, David Brewis, agreed to appear on this week’s My 80s radio show. Tune in from 9pm this Thursday (14th Sept) to hear the multi-instrumentalist choose his Favourite Five 80’s tracks and talk about his new album Autoleisureland. I will also be playing a track from the album, but if you can’t wait until then you can order your copy from autoleisureland.com.
